Winter Warm Up
Warm Up This Winter in Brevard
When it’s cold outside, it can be all too easy to find a cozy spot and stay indoors. Adventure, however, knows no season, and wintertime in Transylvania County is a very special time of year. Find details below on how to take the season to the next level with plenty of unforgettable activities. And don’t miss the chance to enter our Winter Warm Up Sweepstakes below.
Outdoor, the temperatures may be brisk, but our scenery is stunning. Almost all of the area’s most beloved trails are accessible throughout the winter. Many campsites stay open as well, if you’re looking for excellent reason to toast marshmallows and enjoy a campfire.
Winter Adventure Awaits
Our local outfitters keep full schedules all year long. Both Sycamore Cycles and The Hub offer weekly group bike rides in winter. Pisgah Field School and the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education offer adventure and educational programming no matter the season. Those looking to wade out into a (cold) stream may find the winter months an excellent time to hone their angling skills at workshops, classes, and one-on-one sessions offered by both Davidson River Outfitters in Pisgah Forest and Headwaters Outfitters in Rosman.
Winter Continues to Wow
Brevard’s thriving local art scene bustles throughout the year, with regular programming through Transylvania Arts Council as well as new gallery shows and studio tours downtown and along the Scenic 276 Arts Corridor. Afterwards maybe tuck in to a delicious meal or check out one of Brevard’s celebrated breweries for a little extra warmth.
Those hoping for advance word on warmer temperatures might want to drop in on White Squirrel Day (Groundhog Day to some), in which Pisgah Pete, one of Brevard’s favorite fluffy mascots, will predict the arrival of spring, the winner of the Superbowl, and more.
So grab your gloves and get out there! You never know what grand adventure you might find. Enter our contest below.
