April 7, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$3 – $12

It is spring plowing time in the mountains! Step back to the historic days of the Biltmore Forest School. Experience  life in a mountain community with your imagination. Meet old-time homesteaders David and Diane Burnette and their Percheron draft horses. Weather permitting, the horses will plow the Cradle’s heritage garden. Watch them in action. Try plowing the old way yourself! The Burnette’s will teach you. Living history volunteers bring traditional Blue Ridge culture, crafts and the days of America’s first forestry school to life. This event celebrates the opening of the Cradle of Forestry in America’s 2018 season.
Also enjoy what the Cradle of Forestry offers everyday: wheelchair accessible interpretive trails, historic cabins, a one-room schoolhouse, an antique logging train, friendly hosts, the First in Forestry film, a gift shop, and many opportunities to learn about forests, forestry, and the significance of the Cradle of Forestry through indoor and outdoor exhibits. 2016 is the Centennial of the Pisgah National Forest. The USDA Forest Service and Cradle of Forestry in America Interpretive Association invites you to enjoy your public lands!
