Join Ranger Kinsella on a short hike to experience the beauty of fall foliage! Learn to identify 10 common tree species and discuss the basics of photosynthesis, biochemistry, and the process of leaf color change. You MUST sign up for this program to participate. Call now (828 692-0100) to reserve your spot! Program is limited to 20 participants however other hikes will be scheduled if there is enough interest. We will meet in the shelter near the parking area. The program is set to end at 12pm but there is much more at Holmes Educational State Forest that you can explore on your own time. We offer hiking trails, secluded picnic areas, and a variety of educational exhibits. We recommend you bring comfortable shoes, a water bottle, a camera, and a tree ID guide if you have one.
