Your Ultimate Guide to Brevard After Dark
As the sun sets behind the mountains, Brevard reveals a whole new side of adventure. From vibrant nightlife and craft cocktails to quiet spots perfect for stargazing, Transylvania County has plenty to offer once the evening sets in. We’ve put together our favorite ways to enjoy Brevard after dark. Night owls, moon enthusiasts, and nocturnal spirits, this is the list for you.
Catch a Movie
Sit back and relax with an evening movie. The Co-ed theater is a classic, single-screen theater from the 1930s that shows first-run films in Downtown Brevard. Their latest show times start at 7 pm, so even those who prefer an evening show can get their movie fix.
Get competitive
Ready for a little friendly competition? The White Squirrel Arcade is a great place to play inside when you need a break from exploring the outdoors in Transylvania County. They’re also open later in the evening if you’re looking for an after-dinner activity. The Arcade is open until 8:30 pm Wednesday-Thursday, and until 9 pm Friday-Sunday.
Gather ‘Round the Campfire
Sometimes, “nightlife” means enjoying the warm crackle of a campfire under a velvety black sky. Campers can enjoy a fire in Davidson River Campground and Gorges State Park, as long as they adhere to the guidelines for each area. We encourage campers to check each area’s website for specific rules and regulations. If you’d rather spend your time around a fire pit, Ash Grove Cabins allows visitors to rent their fire pits in advance, as long as you buy the firewood from them.
Many restaurants in Transylvania County also have fire pits, so you can enjoy a flickering flame even if you aren’t camping nearby. Check out our restaurants page for more information.
There are also a few cozy accommodations in our corner of the mountains that offer access to flickering fires. Valley Bear Farms and Deerwoode Reserve have fire pits on their properties, while Greystone Inn has both a fire pit outside and a fireplace inside for guests.
Watch the Stars
Transylvania County is a designated Dark Sky place, meaning we have minimal light pollution, making our mountains an incredible destination to view the full beauty of the night sky. The Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI) is a designated Dark Sky Park, one of only two in North Carolina. There are several ways to go stargazing at PARI, so check their website for a full list of opportunities and events.
If you don’t make your way to PARI, there are other stunning viewing locations in Transylvania County to get a breathtaking look at the cosmos. A few of our favorites are Devil’s Courthouse, the Fetterbush Overlook, Log Hollow Overlook, and Cherry Cove Overlook, all along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Sip and Enjoy
Transylvania County is filled with fun places to enjoy a brew after hours. All five of our area breweries are open until at least 8 pm, with many that have even later hours on the weekends. If wine is more your thing, Wine Down on Main is open until 9 pm six days a week, and Territory Wine is open after 8 pm Wednesday-Saturday.
Other watering holes in town are also great places to hang out and get a taste of the Brevard nightlife. 185 King Street and Mutiny Social Club are a couple of our favorite nighttime spots to kick back and relax. If you’re on the hunt for live music, many of these places also host a variety of live bands so that you can dance the night away. For a more comprehensive list of all the spots in Transylvania County that host live music, check out our Live Music blog.
