Brevard and Transylvania County are currently free from wildfire, however we are experiencing impacts to air quality from the smoke. Some roads leading to Transylvania County, public land trails and local events may have closures or cancellations due to wildfires in neighboring counties. We suggest checking with the official websites for public lands and event hosts to get the latest information.
Please protect our forests and communities:
– The N.C. Forest Service has issued a ban on all open burning. Absolutely no campfires, grills, or open flames
– Park in designated areas only, and don’t park in tall grass—hot exhaust can spark fires
– Always Leave It Better, which includes disposing of all trash properly—carry in, carry out
