Learn to make a Memory Quilt Block with Betsy Jay. Each wax encaustic/paper quilt block will tell a unique story. All materials provided.
Join our special guest instructor Betsy Jay to create a richly layered encaustic memory quilt block in this hands-on materials exploration workshop, combining molten beeswax, pigment, and personal ephemera to craft a small yet meaningful work of art. You’ll learn fundamental encaustic techniques, including layering, fusing, incising, embedding, and image transfers, transforming paper, pigments, and wax into a tactile, storytelling piece.
Students are encouraged to bring personal paper ephemera (letters, maps, handwritten notes, etc.) and laser printed photocopies (for transfers), but plenty of materials will be available to use.
No experience is needed—just a willingness to explore and experiment!
