Ready to race the Upper French Broad? The Hellbender 20-Miler Canoe Race sends teams paddling 20 miles down the river in a fun, competitive relay that’s become a favorite part of the annual Upper French Broad Riverfest.
Grab your teammates and get ready to paddle from Headwaters Outfitters in Rosman to Hap Simpson River Park in Brevard, with two 10-mile sections and a paddler exchange at the halfway point. Costumes are highly encouraged, with bragging rights on the line for both the fastest teams and the best-dressed crew.
Not racing? Come cheer on the teams along the river, then join the fun at the Forks of the River Taproom at Headwaters Outfitters for the Riverfest after party. Enjoy live music, food and drinks, the race awards and a lively afternoon celebrating the Upper French Broad with paddlers, spectators and fellow river lovers.
