Help Expand Bracken Preserve Start Building Trails! Brackenfest 2.0 is a “fun”draising ride to support the expansion of Bracken Preserve with 34 acres of beautiful forest land where we can build 2-3 miles of moderate trails. These trails will be inviting to more of our community—including athletes, adventurers, beginners, children, families, seniors, and people at various levels of ability and fitness. Last year, we needed to act fast to buy the land while it was still for sale. In December 2022, Conserving Carolina closed on the land, so this year we can move on to the exciting part—building trails! Last year, Brackenfest generated over $25,000 in funding for the Bracken expansion. If we could match that success, or do even better this year, it would be a huge step toward creating these new trails for walking, running, hiking, and biking. Trail running enthusiasts!  We’re excited to bring you a memorable 50k course (31.75 miles to be exact) with high quality trail and spectacular views through a variety of forest ecosystems. Held in the Pisgah National Forest in the mountains of Western North Carolina this loop highlights some of the best trails in the region with plenty of climbing, rocks, and roots.  This is a tough course, but will be rewarded with excellent trail, an awesome community, and fully stocked aid stations. Woods Mountain

Woods Mountain is an annual MTB race that puts you in the backcountry of the Pisgah National Forest.  Rolling over rugged mining roads, classic Pisgah single track, cursing climbs and giggling descents, this course will test your skills and desire as you explore the intoxicating terrain of the Pisgah National Forest.   THIS RACE IS LIMITED BY THE US FOREST SERVICE TO 300 PARTICIPANTS Date: Sunday, June 11, 2023 (Rain or Shine) Start Time: Packet pickup starts at 6:00 am.  I.D. Required. There will be a Race Meeting at the Start line at 7:50 am. Every racer must attend meeting. You must have your shuttled items ready by 7:45 am. Race start will begin promptly at 8:00 am. Fees: $100 until 5/7/23.  $110 until 6/4/23. $120 on race day. Rest Stops/First Aid: There will be two fully-stocked rest stops on the course (Rest Stop #1 – Mile 14, Rest Stop #2 – Mile 29). The rest stops have food, fruits, Energy Drinks, and H₂O. We have a drop system organized so you can arrange to have your personal supplies at the rest stops. We do not ship items left from rest stop shuttle. First Aid will be at the rest area and the Start/Finish area. Restroom facilities are also at the Start/Finish. Camping: Camping is available at Tom Johnson campground for a fee. RV Camping is available at Buck Creek RV Park. The Sasquatch Scrambler is a MTB race with a short enough course to make it a great first race in Pisgah.
