Something about the mountains can really work up a thirst. It could be a thirst for exploration, for new adventures, or maybe a cold, tasty beverage after a day outside. Luckily, the Land of Waterfalls is a great place to grab a glass of something refreshing. We’re known for our craft beer, but there’s no shortage of libations to enjoy in our corner of the mountains. You can hang out at one of our laid-back breweries or sip and stroll downtown in Brevard’s social district. However you wet your whistle, we’ve got several spots to choose from to sit back and relax with your drink of choice.
1
Have a Drink with a View
Mountains, a quiet lake, and a refreshing beverage — all the ingredients for a perfect afternoon. The Greystone Inn’sbreathtaking views of Lake Toxaway and the Blue Ridge Mountains are the ideal setting when you want to sip and enjoy in pure serenity. Head over to the Inn’s Mansion Bar for a glass of wine, hand-crafted cocktail, or cold beer. Need a recommendation? We love a classic Old Fashioned. Plus, there’s a stone terrace where you can overlook North Carolina’s largest private lake.
2
Have a Glass of Vino
Soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Downtown Brevard at Wine Down on Main. Of course, they have an excellent selection of fine wines, but they also have craft beer and gourmet bites to round out your visit. Locals rave about their delicious charcuterie board and say the smoked trout is a must-try. (Pro tip: pair the trout with a light, crisp white like a sauvignon blanc or riesling. You’ll thank us later!)
3
Have a Mocktail
Sometimes, it’s nice to have a fun beverage that’s alcohol-free. For an interesting and tasty mocktail option, try Wood & Vine in Downtown Brevard. Their booze-free cocktails have all of the care, craft, and flavor of a fine libation. And they pair exceptionally well with Wood & Vine’s high-quality, wood-fired menu. You can’t go wrong ordering their delicious Hibiscus Ginger Spritz.
4
Have a Drink with a Show
Good drinks and live music are an undeniable duo, and 185 King Street is a stellar spot to experience both. They have a consistent lineup of live music from talented regional artists. And their in-house brewery, Noblebräu Brewing, serves up a crowd-pleasing assortment of incredible beers. Did we also mention that they have delicious food? The Unicorn sandwich is a real treat. Pair it with their hefeweizen, She’s So Heff.
5
Have a Drink wth No Footprint
The taproom and bottle shop at Cedar Mountain Canteen features a huge assortment of over 150 beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Plus, when drinking here, you can feel good knowing that you’re sipping on something cold in a zero-waste space. It’s an awesome spot that’s definitely Trashquatch-approved. Try a Brevard Brewing Company Lager on draft when you’re there. Or, grab a to-go option, like Maine Lunch or a Burial non-alcoholic beverage.
6
Have a Drink While You Shop
Tucked into Hunters & Gatherers in Downtown Brevard, Beer & A Bracelet Saloon is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it kind of place. That’s because it has the distinction of being the smallest bar in the USA. We like to think that it’s pretty exclusive since there are only 5 seats. Don’t let its size fool you, though — they can whip up your cocktail of choice so you can sip and shop with ease. Try the Dirty Cowgirl to add to your saloon experience.
7
Have a Beer on the River
For you hidden gem hunters out there, Forks of the River Taproom is a treasure of a find. Located at the headwaters of the French Broad River, this taproom is a perfect out-of-the-way spot for local brews, wine, and cider. They dedicate 12 of their taps to breweries within the watershed that make beers from these pristine mountain waters. The Wild Berry Knight Cider is a tasty option that’s perfect for relaxing by the river.
