Beginning Drawing:
This drawing class is designed for anyone. It does not require any
previous skills or talent. Students will be introduce to the
fundamentals of drawing in three parts:
One: Basic shapes, and proportion.
Two: Refine lines, angels, and finding solid outlines.
Three: Adding details for finishing.
We will practice various mark making, forms, and creating 3-D space.
The class covers the use of drawing tools, types of paper, shading
techniques and timed contour sketching. Drawing with your whole
arm, locking your elbow and wrist, and moving from your shoulder.
Practice will include drawing with lines, scribbles, dots, stipples,
hatching and zig zag.
Students will learn how to produce circles, cones, and cubes then
use them to build complex shapes. Using the basic shapes for a
loose underdrawing we will then explore more complex gestural
drawing. Step-by-step demonstration on how to begin a still life,
and landscape.
