3 WEEK BEGINNING ACRYLIC PAINTING WORKSHOP WITH BARBARA FRYEFIELD
DATES: AUGUST 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27th, 2025
TIME: 10 – 2PM each day
COST: $450 includes supplies (Total cost for 6 – 4 Hour sessions)
LOCATION: Gallery – 51 West Main St., Brevard, NC
This painting class is designed for painters of all levels. Students will learn how to use acrylic paint, tone a canvas, place a drawing on canvas. Students will learn fundamentals of using acrylic medium. This is a study course only, finished paintings may not be completed due to lecture, practice, and application of techniques. Relax and have fun in our non judgmental, supportive art class. Enjoy live painting, strategies, technique, and demonstrations.
Once a month “Open Studio” is available for those individuals who wish to work on art works supervised by a professional artist.
The basics of painting will be covered: materials, value, color theory, composition, painting techniques, and use of materials.
Each student will work at their own pace and will have personal attention in each class. There will be examples of mixing techniques, value, glazing, lighting objects, and use of materials to set up a still life. Discussions on landscape, portrait painting, realism, and other styles. Open discussion of painting are encouraged. Barbara has taught painting classes and workshops for over 20 years as a painter of portraits, still life and landscapes.
CLASS SUPPLY KIT $175 (in addition to class)
(Class material kits contain five tubes of 2oz paint, two sets of varied size brushes, six canvas, color wheel, value scale, palette knife, and pad of palette paper). A “acrylic painting kit” can be purchased through the gallery for $175
Materials List:
1. Acrylic Paint (Please bring these or similar colors listed) Note: for Acrylic paint, please purchase heavy body acrylic paint. You will find quality paints are more pigmented, and less “watery” than student grade.
Basic Colors: Yellow, Red, Blue, White, Black. Golden Heavy Body 2.oz. or larger. One large tube or jar of white paint is recommended.
