In this class we will look at the flower paintings of Georgia O’Keeffe. Known for her close-up views and vivid, expressive use of color, O’Keeffe’s work captures the beauty of nature in a powerful, abstract way. Following our discussion, we will use O’Keeffe’s work as inspiration to create a pastel painting, incorporating gouache as an underpainting. You will learn how to layer these materials to evoke the bold, organic shapes and intense colors that O’Keefe used in her work.
All skill levels welcome.
