Primitive and Roadside Camping
For a truly immersive outdoor experience, Transylvania County offers both primitive and roadside camping options in addition to the campgrounds listed in our directory. For a remote and rugged adventure, primitive camping is available in the Pisgah Ranger District of Pisgah National Forest and Gorges State Park. The Pisgah Ranger District also offers 65 dispersed roadside camping spots, available on a first-come, first-served basis, each with a fire ring, tent pad, and parking space. Whether you’re seeking solitude in the wilderness or a convenient spot with easy access, Transylvania County has the perfect place to enjoy nature.
