A program filled with depth and passion, this evening opens with the majestic Prelude to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, one of Wagner’s most triumphant orchestral works. The celebrated Masumi Per Rostad, GRAMMY-winning violist and professor at the Eastman School of Music, brings his artistry to Jessie Montgomery’s dynamic Viola Concerto, a contemporary work rich with rhythm and emotion. The program concludes with Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2, a sweeping, cinematic masterpiece filled with soaring Nordic landscapes, heroic themes, and one of the most glorious finales in symphonic music.
