A new event is scheduled for this week’s Transylvania Farmers’ Market. Free and fun for the whole family, Tomato Fest will be held on Saturday, August 10, from 8am to 12pm. Taste a wide variety of tomatoes in every shape and color. Try fresh tomatoes, take home recipes that feature tomatoes, and shop for vendor products and summer produce. At the Kids Corner, children of all ages will enjoy learning about different types of tomatoes and creating a fun craft. Toes will be tappin’ with live music by Jennifer Serres and Owen Grooms. With a focus on the bounty that Transylvania County has to offer, the Market has more than 60 vendors offering fresh, locally-grown produce, meat, poultry, eggs, honey, cheeses, vinegar & mustard, fermented products, fresh juices, pickles & bbq sauces, mushrooms, plants, herbs, cut flowers, baked goods, jams & jellies, breakfast & lunch items, prepared foods, and a variety of handcrafted and artisan items from local producers.
