Guided Walking Tours

Explore the History of Transylvania County and the City of Brevard during one of the themed tours offered at the Transylvania Heritage Museum. Special tours are offered during the White Squirrel Festival (Saturday of Memorial Day weekend), and Halloweenfest. The tours last approximately one hour. Call the Museum or visit the website and click on Walking Tours for specific tour details. Tours require reservations since space is limited to ensure a unique and educational experience for participants. We request that reservations be final by noon the preceding day. Reservations can be made by calling the Museum during our regular hours, Wednesday through Friday, from 10 am until 5 pm, Saturday from 11 am until 3 pm, or by sending an email titled “Walking Tour Reservations” to curator@transylvaniaheritage.org. PISGAH NIGHTS – MORE SPACE, SPIES AND SECRETS

On the Evening of October 2, 2020 from 6-8pm The Learning Center at PARI will host a follow-up to the talk and the history tour of our unique site that has been home to NASA, Department of Defense, N.C. Forest Service and presently Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute and The Learning Center at PARI. A visual slideshow and history tour will accompany the presentation. The evening will be an expansion on the previous Space, Spies and Secrets. Brad McCall who has a deep family history with the site will lead the evening with his deep insights into the campus and its history. Art in the Park, Brevard, NC, Route 276 at Brevard Elementary School

ART IN THE PARK Art in the Park is sponsored by the Connestee Art League of Brevard. This is the 2nd annual Autumn]festival. The festival will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 and is on Route 276, on the property of Brevard Elementary School. The address is 399 Greenville Hwy, Brevard, NC 28712. Art in the Park benefits arts programs for children and programs for adults in the Brevard Community. It is one of the League’s annual fundraisers. The outstanding lineup includes two-dimensional artists such as painters, illustrators and photographers, etc. We also have three-dimensional artists such as potters, woodworkers, jewelry makers, stained glass artists and many, many more. Many of the artists are also featured in local stores and galleries. Food will be available on site as well. The public is invited to come and enjoy the day, shop for original artistic creations, taste some wonderful food and join in the fun. Bring the kids, bring the grandparents, and have a day of fun. Enjoy art and nature, because so much of the art is about our beautiful surroundings here in Transylvania County. After you enjoy the fair, you can also visit local landmarks such as Pretty Place and Caesar’s Head State Park. Take a hike in DuPont State Forest or Pisgah Forest and take in some of the most magnificent views in the area. We look forward to seeing all of you there!
