Every summer, the Transylvania French Broad Stewards host a free, family-friendly festival in Rosman, NC, where the French Broad pours out of the mountains, crystal-clear. Riverfest brings the community together and gives children the opportunity to enjoy the river. Riverfest features free tubing rides, hands-on activities, a live hellbender salamander, a scavenger hunt, food trucks, and more. It also coincides with the annual Hellbender 20-Miler canoe relay.
The French Broad at Champion Park alone provides a fun activity – with clear water shallow enough for wading. Festival goers can learn about water quality monitoring and insects from Mountain True. They can go on a bird walk with the Blue Ridge Audubon Society. They can identify macroinvertebrates with River Rangers. Or they can try their hand at fly tying with French Broad Fly Fishers. Electric vehicles will be on display by The Land of Sky Clean Vehicles Coalition and Blue Ridge Electric Vehicle club. There will be many more vendors and activities to explore, including non-alcoholic beer donated by Athletic Brewing!
Riverfest is supported by our local sponsors and Partners: Conserving Carolina, Headwater’s Outfitters, Town of Rosman, Explore Brevard, Davidson River Outfitters, Dugan’s Pub, the Red House inn and the NC Cooperative Extension
