Pisgah Field School Presents: The Best of Pisgah!

If you’re looking for the best of what Pisgah National Forest has to offer, then this tour is for you! We’ll spend the day exploring the peaks, bogs, waterfalls and unique landmarks that make this area so special and attract locals and tourists alike. We’ll tour sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway and get 360-degree views on Black Balsam Knob, one of the most spectacular in western NC. From there you can get your feet wet at a few lesser-known waterfalls. Next up is a short tour through the Cradle of Forestry Historic Site, the birthplace of modern forestry in America, and a visit to the Pink Beds and its unique Appalachian Bog ecosystem. Lastly, we’ll spend some time at the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education, where you’ll get an introduction to the trout fish hatchery and onsite exhibit hall. We’ll end at the Pisgah Tavern for a pint of your favorite beer or soft drink. This tour is not to be missed! Hiking required. Transportation included.
