Opus Vita

Opus Vita is a 3 piece Rock/Funk band from the Asheville/ Brevard area that performs a mix of originals and covers. Members include: Andrew Johnson (guitar/vocals), Sam White (bass), and Jeff Lott (drums). Opus Vita was founded in 2011 when Andrew Johnson (guitar/vocals) and Jeff Lott (drums) met Sam White (bass) at Brevard College, where they were working towards their degrees in music. Andrew and Jeff had been playing and writing music together since high school in Charlotte, NC where they met each other in the band program and then decided to pursue further musical education. Sam came to the college from Birmingham, AL and was part of the jazz program. After having been through several bass players that never seemed to fit, Andrew and Jeff heard Sam in the halls of Dunham Music Center, and knew that they had to try to get him on board with the band. Once they started practicing together they knew that their search for a bass player was over. After some delays which brought Sam back to Birmingham, the band is now back on their feet and running again. Opus Vita aims to share their music in as many places as possible. Influences include (but aren’t limited to): Led Zeppelin, Phish, Pink Floyd, Incubus, The Beatles, Coldplay, The Eagles, The Grateful Dead, Dave Matthews Band, and Blues Traveler.
