Basic Navigation with Map and Compass

Learn to read and interpret a topographic map and to use a compass in order to “stay found” in the forest. This class is designed with the beginner in mind. You will learn and practice the following skills: Reading a map, understanding contour lines, measuring distance using scale, parts of a compass, orienting a map with a compass, taking and following a bearing. This class is beneficial for anyone who spends time in the forest! This three hour workshop meets at 4703 Island Ford Rd. Brevard, NC.
