As a part of the Historic Toxaway Celebration, the Friends of Gorges State Park is happy to welcome Marcy Thompson, History Librarian at Transylvania County Library, to the Park’s Visitors Center Auditorium on Saturday, June 9. Marcy will give a talk focused on Hogback Township, the area encompassing Sapphire and Lake Toxaway. She will share some fascinating stories on early settlers and communities, including schools and churches, the building (and accidental draining) of Lake Toxaway, Moltz lumber and other facts pertinent to this area today. Marcy will deliver her talk two times on June 9, once at 1 PM and again at 2:30 PM.
