Freud’s Last Session

Brevard College Theatre presents Freud’s Last Session by Mark St Germain, a fictional conversation between psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud and novelist and Christian apologist C.S. Lewis. Set during the London bombings of WWII, Freud’s Last Session is an engaging one-act play – a conflict of ideology and personalities in a meeting in Freud’s office where the two men engage in a heated intellectual debate. At times both humorous and thought-provoking, their lively argument navigates subjects of faith, reason, Christianity, and psychology while the imminent danger of war, and the looming shadow of death hangs over them.

Directed by student Karen Bennett, the production is her senior thesis project. Sophomore Kaylee Smith’s set design will be featured, with lights by Assistant Professor Andrea Boccanfuso. Cast members Josh Goldstein and Logan Taylor play C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud.

Performances run Thursday April 16^th – Saturday April 18^th at 7pm, and Sunday April 19^th at 2:30pm in the Morrison Playhouse at the Porter Center for the Performing Arts on the Brevard College campus. Following the Friday and Sunday performances, there will be a talkback with the The Rev. Robert D. Field – Rector of St Philip’s Episcopal Church in Brevard, and the cast and creative team.
