Fly Tying 101 with Davidson River Outfitters

The normal evolution of the fly-fisher is to learn how to tie your own flies at some point. You may take up fly tying to save money, create unique patterns, or to achieve a higher quality fly. Regardless of your reason for taking up fly tying, the key to success is to first gain a solid understanding of the fundamental principles and techniques. At that point, you will have a good foundation on which to build.
Our staff has longstanding expertise in fly tying and fly design. Our instructors have over one hundred years of combined fly tying experience.
