The Transylvania Farmers Market is proud to host Farm Fair on Saturday morning, September 5th from 8am to 12pm. An event that celebrates our local farmers and producers, Farm Fair will include a wide variety of vendor and educational booths, contests, fun activities & events for kids and adults alike, and is FREE to the public.
The morning’s schedule and events include:
CONTESTS (with prizes!) include:
• Best Jam – Drop off your jam by 9am (a maximum of 2 entries per person), public taste testing & voting begins at 9am until the winner is announced at 11:00am
• Watermelon Seed Spittin’ – 9am to 11am with winner announced at 11am
• Egg & Spoon Race – 11 to 11:30am with winner announced at 11:30am
PLUS…
• Enjoy a hot breakfast cooked on-site by Wild Indigo Catering, the Oskar Blues CHUBwagon, and Chameleon Mobile Food & Catering, plus a variety of delicious baked goods from various vendors
• Stop by the Market Info Booth to draw to win a variety of goodies from market vendors
• Play a game of cornhole and get an up-close look at an antique tractor
• FREE face painting by Let’s Face It, and a craft area, scavenger hunt, and other fun activities for kids
• Produce tasting & food samples
• LIVE MUSIC by Crooked Pine
• See inside a real working bee colony at the Pure Pisgah Honey booth
• Take a try at the Agriculture Simulator at the Farm Bureau booth (harvest one of four different crops!)
• Visit the Cooperative Extension Booth and talk with the Master Gardeners about your garden questions, pick up all kinds of useful information, and sample a variety of local tomatoes
• Come meet snakes and turtles with Earthshine Nature Programs! Experience the beauty and benefits of our native reptiles and amphibians to farmers and gardeners, learn identification techniques, and how to increase habitat for beneficial species.
• See a plug-in electric vehicle at the Blue Ridge EV Club booth. Learn how driving an EV, organic living, gardening and farming, charging your EV via clean renewable energy, and creating a smaller carbon footprint all go hand in hand.
AND… over 50 market vendors will be set up with a plethora of fresh produce, meats, poultry, trout, eggs, goat cheese, mushrooms, honey, jams & jellies, oils & vinegars, prepared foods, plants, herbs, cut flowers, and arts & handcrafted items.
