On Sunday, November 11th at 3:00 p.m., the current principal clarinetist at Brevard Music Center, Steve Cohen, will take the stage of the Porter Center at Brevard College. Cohen, who is also the coordinator of the winds, brass and percussion departments at Northwestern University, as well as a sought after soloist and chamber music performer throughout the U.S. and around the world, will join the Brevard Philharmonic playing the Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra in A Major, a composition written toward the end of Mozart’s life. As Cohen says, “This is the piece that really cemented the clarinet’s place as a regular member of the orchestra.”
The orchestra fills out the afternoon entitled The Magic of Mozart with the lively Overture to Der Schauspieldirektor, K. 486 and the beloved composer’s Symphony No.38 in D Major, known as the Prague.
