Brevard Community Band Concert

The Brevard Community Band will present their final season concert Sunday August 11, 3PM at Porter Center (1 Brevard College Dr) on the Brevard College campus
This concert has a theme of Sound the Horns. The program will include R. Strauss Horn Concerto #1 performed by french hornist Robert Rydel. Brevard Band conductor Maestro Jamie Hafner says Mr. Rydel plays really, really good. High praise indeed…The August program will also include two more works by R. Strauss, a Saint-Saens Concert March, a rousing, toe tapping march and more songs you know from The King and I by Richard Rodgers.
The Brevard Community Band (BCB), now in its nineteenth season, is a summer band of 65+ volunteer musicians conducted by Brevard Music Centers’ Director Emeritus of Education Jamie Hafner. Band members collective experience range from high school instrumental graduates, retired band directors, music professors and professional freelance players.
Know that the featured french hornist Mr. Rydel will elevate your appreciation of solo artistry, technical mastery and have you motivated to expand your music listening library.
The BCB’s mission is to provide opportunities for area musicians to perform challenging music at the highest level for local audiences. Furthermore the band supports and promotes music education in Transylvania County by providing music scholarships to public schools and local college students, awarding grants to local music education programs and performing and mentoring the Brevard College Wind Ensemble.
