BREVARD BALLET PRESENTS CINDERELLA JUNE 3
Brevard Ballet will present Cinderella and Raymonda on Sunday, June 3 at 5:00 p.m. in Jones Auditorium of Brevard High School.
Cinderella has been choreographed by Thomas Shoemaker of the South Carolina Governors School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville, SC, with music by Sergei Prokofiev. Shoemaker also will dance the role of Dance Master. Pierceton Mazell, one of Shoemakers students at the Governors School, will star as the Prince.
Local students in featured roles include: Cinderella Marleigh Meals, Stepmother Gwyn Jennings, Stepsisters Evelyn Rybka and Kristen Zachry, Spring Fairies Isabelle Lefler and Ada Weaver, Summer Fairy Meredith Hart, Fall Fairies Kassie Revis and Arianna Gandolfo, and Winter Fairy August Barham.
Raymonda will feature all students taking classes at Brevard Ballet. The music of this ballet, by Alexander Glazunov, is thought to be the most beautiful in classical ballet. Angie Wells has choreographed many of the dances, based on the choreography of Pepita and Balanchine. August Barham, a Brevard High School senior, choreographed three of the dances.
Tickets are $22 for adults and $11 for students. They are available at DD Bullwinkels Outdoors, Rockys and at brevardballet.org.
