Intensely personal, and at times brooding and turbulent, Robert Schumann’s Piano Trio No. 1 stands as a definitive statement in Romantic chamber music. Often symphonic in nature, Schumann’s masterpiece explores the ranges, colors, and rhythmic vibrancy of the violin, cello, and piano, for which it is written.
