Beginner Wheel Throwing

The Transylvania Community Arts Council and Mountain Roots, Inc will host a week-long pottery workshop from November 16 – 19. The focus of the workshop is wheel throwing for beginners. The workshop will be at the TC Arts Council from 6 – 9 pm on the evenings of November 16 – 19 with an additional day of class to glaze the pottery in the coming weeks.  Cost for this multi-day pottery class is $210 + the cost of clay. Space is limited so call the TC Arts Council to register at 828-884-2787.

Students will learn about the properties of clay, and the basics of the potter’s wheel including how to transform basic cylinders into bowls, vases, and cups. Creating handles will also be discussed. Projects will be bisque fired following the week long class and then glazed by the students a week or two later. ($210 + cost of clay)
