The Atlanta Concert Ringers (ACR) is an auditioned handbell ensemble made up of musicians from throughout the Atlanta area. Organized in 2002 , its missions is to showcase a wide variety of handbell music – secular to sacred to show tunes, old stand-bys to new compositions, whimsical favorites to notable classics. This diverse group of musicians is bound together by their love of handbell music and the joy they derive from sharing that music with others. In its 15 year history it has developed under the leadership of notable handbell directors including Michael Bryant, (its founder), Tim Shepard (now of Brevard), David Davidson, Michael Helman, and Kevin McChesney. In August 2013, Alice Myers became Music Director of ACR and Kevin McChesney transitioned from Music Director to the role of Artistic Advisor. In addition to concerts in the Atlanta area, ACR has performed at Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC; AGEHR Area IV Festival in Orlando, FL; and Spivey Hall in Morrow, GA. In July 2014, ACR presented the opening concert at the National Seminar of Handbell Musicians of America. For more information about the ACR, visit:  <http://www.TheAtlantaConcertRingers.org>
The ACR will be in Transylvania County on Halloween weekend to present a concert (in costume) celebrating the season with “Shivers and Shakes”. The concert is free. A love offering will be received.
