The Sassy Goose, Your Private Mountain Retreat

For more than 30 years, The Sassy Goose has been welcoming guests to our family-run vacation rentals in Cedar Mountain, NC.

Located on 50 acres, The Sassy Goose is the perfect place for a romantic weekend for two, a family get-together, small business meeting, team building exercises, or hanging with that group of friends you have been talking about getting together with for years. Just imagine, the possibilities are endless.

We have 4 residences located on the east end of our private six-acre lake. All can be rented separately or as a group. 

The Lodge

Our spacious Lodge has three bedrooms each with private bath upstairs and can accommodate a maximum of 6 people. Room 1 has a queen size bed and a single futon, Room 2 has a queen size bed, and Room 3 has a king bed. Downstairs is a living room, a nicely appointed kitchen and a dining room that can seat up to 14 people. A large deck overlooks the lake with a small patio perfect for grilling.

The Cottage   

Our comfortable Cottage has two bedrooms each with private bath and can accommodate a maximum of 4 people. Room One has a king size bed. Room Two has a king size bed that can be converted into two twin beds. There is a small kitchen, a living/dining room and a sunporch that overlooks the lake with a small outdoor patio perfect for grilling.

Cabin #1

Cabin #1 has one bedroom with private bath and can accommodate 2 people, a charming screened in porch and a small living/dining area with a mini kitchen.

Between the Cabins is a quiet patio overlooking the trout pond with a table and chairs and a gas grill. 

Cabin #2

Cabin #2 has one bedroom with private bath that can accommodate two people, a small deck overlooking the trout pond and a small living/dining room with mini kitchen.

Amenities

Our beautiful 6-acre lake is perfect for swimming, canoeing and fishing. There is no life guard on duty. Please be sure to keep track of your children. No swimming after dark.

From the Pavilion you can watch the sunset while sitting around the firepit, have cocktails, eat alfresco, or have a family competition playing ping pong, horse shoes or Bocce. This is one of our favorite family activities.

The stocked trout pond for fishing (catch and release please)

Hike around the lake or to our own beautiful little Lady Falls.

Cedar Mountain is a haven for the outdoor enthusiast. DuPont State Recreational Forest is a hop, skip and a jump from our front entrance. Just the place for hikers, mountain bikers and waterfall watchers.

We are open from April 1 through November 30th each year. We require a three-night minimum stay.
