From the forests of our beloved NC mountains, Ruby, this year’s hand-picked US Capitol Christmas Tree travels through the east coast to adorn her new home in Washington, DC.⁣

Ruby is a mighty 78ft Red Spruce from Pisgah National Forest harvested just outside Transylvania County. ⁣

Happy travels to Ruby and may her shimmering light shine brightly for our nation.

Explore Brevard funded $30,000 toward The Courthouse Wildlife Habitat project, a 3-acre wildlife opening in Pisgah National Forest. The opening directly contributes to the sustainability of Pisgah and the vibrant forest ecosystem within by creating a permanent habitat for a diverse group of species. Come September, monarch butterflies will use this specific opening to refuel during their migration. Other creatures, like bears, deer, turkey, rabbits, mice, hawks, and owls will use this opening as a home and foraging grounds. We’re proud to be able to contribute to important projects like this. ...
